WHAT'S BOOK-to-BAR?
Book-to-Bar™ is the world's first literary-chocolate pairing! Just as you would pair chocolate with wine, cheese or other foods, we are pairing my book "The Jaguar and the Cacao Tree" with a bar of high quality artisan chocolate. Beautifully wrapped by hand, this is a gorgeous holiday gift set that comes complete with a Read-Tasting Notes card—similar to the tasting notes you'd receive at a traditional chocolate tasting.
Book-to-Bar bundles retail for $24.99 (plus sales tax in the state of California) and are available exclusively on my web site and participating chocolate shops.
We'd like to invite you to become an affiliate and earn commission from Book-to-Bar gift bundles. You can also donate your commissions to Bio-Itza—just let us know and we'll redirect the funds to them at the close of the campaign.
WHERE DO PROCEEDS GO? aka THE TRIPLE WIN
The proceeds from sales cover the physical and labor costs of printing the books and acquiring the chocolate bars (which are not cheap), and assembling the gift bundles (we're doing this all in the U.S., no offshoring and no sweatshops!).
Now for the triple win:
• First, we are donating 11% of the net proceeds to a non profit in northern Guatemala that runs a small biosphere and maintains the old Itzà Maya ways of forest gardening. I know these people as they have helped me during the research phase of my book. The funds are not covering the usual overhead costs, but rather very specific needs they have—more information is here.
• Secondly, we are providing a minimum 25% commission to all of our affiliates. These affiliates are hand-selected and invited, and are independent authors, publishers, filmmakers, and other creatives who are also trying to make a living through their art.
• Thirdly, whatever might be left over, we are re-investing in the various events, workshops and other projects related to the story of cacao.
WHY BE A BOOK-to-BAR AFFILIATE?
Several reasons:
• Affiliate sales give you a new or additional stream of passive income. All you have to do is feature the bundles to your email list, post it on your social media networks, Facebook groups, and professional/personal groups or networks, as you deem relevant and appropriate. You don't need to collect, manage or report on sales as they flow through from your lists to our web site, and we track everything with your affiliate code. At the end of the campaign, we will send you a check for any commissions earned.
• Your audience, readers or communities get to find out about this very special, limited-sales initiative that's not available anywhere except my web site, select partners, specific chocolate industry events, and participating chocolate shops.
