Non-newsflash: I'm holding back the Muse March issue a bit because there is so much to share and so little time to put it all together.
Real reason: I just got back from a cacao farm in Hawai'i and have a ton of work to catch up on, and that new project I've been hinting at, to finish... so I can finally announce it!
I'm acutely aware people are getting pummeled by Nor'easters, and Europe has plunged into an ice age. Still, please don't hate me... I too have weathered many a storm when I lived back East. Here in California we have earthquakes, mudslides, fires, floods, and lots of dust. And in Hawai'i they have active lava flows, marauding roosters, and bleached corals. That was the saddest part of the trip. Seeing all those dead, white corals. More on that in the March issue...
I do have two things I really want and need to share before time runs out.
First and foremost, Happy International Women's Day! It has been an amazing ride the past few months—and especially today,
to see women raising their voices not just here but in Russia, Turkey, Spain, India, South Korea, Nepal, the Philippines, even Afghanistan! Wow. This could not have been possible a few decades ago... we were never so connected.
Especially inspiring is seeing all the young women and girls waking up to their own potential, and their own power to achieve it. I have been through plenty of experiences painfully similar to so many of those you've read about (remember I worked in Hollywood once upon a time), and yet, somehow, reading them from powerful female celebrities felt so strangely human. Celebrity or no celebrity, we are all women and men. Human beings. No person should dominate another. That's just silly.
Secondly, if you're in or near the San Francisco Bay Area, come say hello to your favorite food at the
International Chocolate Salon in Golden Gate park this weekend. I'm giving a little talk there on Sunday.
See you next week in March's issue!
