The Muse :: Timeless advice for writers

The Muse

From 2013 to 2014, I was a contributing blogger for the popular web site called The Write Practice, a community of writers and readers with a large footprint—250,000 as of fall 2015.

Because I feel so strongly about good writing, have experienced first-hand the struggles and travails of earning a living in this field, and believe passionately that we, either as writers or readers, should not ever, EVER dumb down our creativity and intelligence, I'm bringing you the choicest picks from my TWP blog posts.

My personal faves:

Why we write: four reasons why we writers do what we do.

Unfurl your sails: three questions writers should ask themselves (and obviously answer).

Turn on your muse: move those words... with music!

Cooking up the writer's sauce: yes, there is something called "the writer's sauce" and I'm giving you the recipe.

Real romance: on what too many romance novelists don't get.

Respect your readers: Aretha, take it away babe.

Run writer run: What in heaven's name exercise has to do with writing (hint: everything).

The complete line-up of posts is right here, in one tidy section on my web site. Explore and be inspired!

Not a writer? Forward to or share with a writer friend.

And stay tuned for the mystery of the letter M!
